Default I wonder if buying other game's account with gw money is legal

Read title.

Since my first day of gaming, i saw people selling runescape high level accounts for very cheap price like 15k. I always told them it was illegal and that they are going to be banned. But they said it was legal. I dont no who to trust. Please tell me if its legal to buy other game's account with gw money.

Thanks

sounds illegal to me. correct me if im wrong i havnt played runescape ina very long time..but i think in runescape its agianst the rules to BUY AND TRADE accounts if you buy themon runescape or if you buy them on guild wars your still buying them. now to the point of them getting banned if they buy them on guild wars no prob not because runescape cant prove you bought the account on guild wars. atleast thats what i think :P

No. The use for in-game for currency for real-life or other-game material is still against the EULA. Just as if trying to buy in-game currency with real-life material.

And anyone who's selling RS accounts needs to get a life anyways.

PS: you won't get banned for it unless the trade actually happens. ANet's so careless these days that advertisement won't matter. Hell, I actually wouldn't doubt that you could get away with the trade. This however, is not to say that you should. I don't recommend any such form of trading.

can you buy boggle with monopoly money?

the whole thing is rediculous. anything you cant put in the trade window should not be traded. even selling/buying a guild is stupid to me.

Uhm no. I'm saying it should be legal to at least sell what you already paid for.

Ex : GW accounts. We paid money for the key/acc/game, yet Anet is preventing us from selling what we already bought.

Illegal? No, it doesn't violate any criminal laws or regulations.

Unlawful? Yes, it violates the EULA for both GW and Runescape, which are (at least in some jurisdictions) binding contracts.

we don't technically buy the game...we are technically renting server space. That's the best way I can put it. All the content, our accounts etc belong to Anet, we are simply paying for the right to USE it...

The doctrine of first sale may apply here. As recently proven in court, this doctrine over-rides the EULA. If you want to sell your account, you can as long as you transferr everything directly related to that account. I think they need to update the EULA for the United States.

What court case? Ask Autocad or e-bay. Here is a link: http://aecnews.com/news/2008/05/21/3414.aspx

Sometimes I wonder why anyone would accept virtual money, but what ever floats your boat.
Edit: I would like to point out that is you buy the account with virtual money and for the doctrine to apply, you should recieve the manuals, boxes and software CDs. Without those items I do not think you could make a case that the doctrine actually applies.

I see people buying RuneScape accounts all the time and I'm not going to lie, I want nothing more than to jip them. Such idiots! How stupid can you be to even try buying a RuneScape account on Guild Wars? Hmm, would it be bannable for me to teach these nerds a lesson about buying RuneScape accounts?

All I think of when people try buying ingame GW accounts are idiotic people that actually agree like: i.e.

Buyer: I'll pay you 500k to your account if you sell your account
Fool *thinks its a great deal*
Fool *Accepts 500k onto account and then gives the info to the buyer*
Buyer *is now inpossession of a new account with 500k on it*

I mean if people are selling their accounts which I'd assume they would not play GW anymore so what would they do this with ingame money?

What you bought is a license. It's the same thing as buying a ticket to an amusement park, all you get is a conditional and revocable privilege to enter the park. In the case of Guild Wars, it is a not a transferable license, which is stated no less than 4 times in the user agreement, so the only person that is allowed to use your account is you (or strictly speaking, a minor you're the parent/guardian of).

http://www.guildwars.com/support/leg...-agreement.php

Also, read section 4(c) if you want to know how much you own, and remember that you agreed to that provision multiple times.

As for the Autodesk case, keep in mind that Guild Wars is not simply about owning a copy of a piece of software, it's about having a license to access the service as well. Enforcing the non-transferable nature of event tickets, for example, has stood the test of time quite well.

It breaks the EULA, and thus is disallowed

You paid money for access to the game. You don't even own your account, ArenaNet does (said in the EULA). They have the right to ban you for anything they want and there is nothing you can do about it (well, you can argue with support, but good luck there). They won't, but they can. They could very well just ban you for having 5 e's in your characters name if they so wanted, because all you pay for is access, they set the rules, and they say you can't sell your game for irl money, which means if you get caught, they will ban you easily.

I report all account buyers. Report always responds saying that they have verified a violation and banned/suspended the account.

I'd say that's pretty definitive proof of a bad idea.
